Duos, trios, quartets, quintets, string orchestra - which one is right for my wedding?

One of the most common questions I get from brides (and grooms!) is what is the difference between the different string ensembles. Read on to find out!

Duos

Duos can be the perfect compliment to an intimate wedding. It can be any combination of string instruments, however the combination of violin and cello is the most common. This option is perfect for the bride that is budget conscious, but does not want to sacrifice elegance.

Trios

Trios are also a great option for intimate weddings. They usually consist of 1 violin, 1 viola, and 1 cello - however any combination of string instruments can be used in a trio (I personally love adding a bass, because it's unexpected!). Trios will sound fuller than duos.

Quartets

This is the classic string ensemble - and most string music is written for string quartets! The standard string quartet consists of 2 violins, 1 viola, and 1 cello. String quartets are our most requested string ensembles, and you absolutely cannot go wrong with one. This ensemble is perfect for any size wedding - large or small!

Quintets

I personally love string quintets - both for the aesthetic as well as the sound. String quintets consist of 2 violins, 1 viola, 1 cello, and 1 bass. The addition of the bass really looks very impressive and having the deep register of the bass gives the sound an added and and beautiful depth. A quintet is perfect for larger weddings and for a bride that really wants to have a little extra wow-factor!

String Orchestra

Our string orchestra is by far the most impressive package that will take your special day to the next level! It includes a variety of 10 string instruments (violins, violas, cellos, and bass) - plus our Music Director - Maestro Jason Ikeem Rodgers conducting. This is a great option for brides that really want to surprise their guests and kick up the wow-factor to the max.
